Our Vision

Hello Folks and welcome to our blog.,
We've had a vision for doing something like this for sometime and now we are finally taking the first step.  Normally my husband works full time in construction and has little time to devote to other interests outside of the family (we have four children ages four and under).  However, about three weeks ago he fell off a roof and broke a couple of vertebrae in his lower back (thankfully no spinal chord damage) as well as his left wrist.  This has made it impossible for him to do his usual job for awhile and has caused us to start pursuing ideas that we've had stirring in our brains. This is the first on our list as it is something that has been on our hearts to do and requires the least amount of capital so it fits our current budget.  We also have several small projects that we wish to pursue in hopes of creating an income while he heals and beyond.  We hope to tell you more about those later on this blog.

OUR VISION
So what is our vision you ask?  And we're so glad that you did.  Our vision is for a website that serves as a directory and a community of small Christian businesses.  We are starting it as a blog but have hopes of improving it as we go if indeed it proves a useful resource.  We want to play a part in helping other brothers and sisters in Christ to prosper.  Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth. 1 Corinthians 10:24  We have several friends who own small businesses and we find ourselves wanting to tell everyone that we know about them.  Also, we know that there are many others out there that we would like to learn more about.  People often get up in arms about businesses that we should ban for one reason or another and we'd like to do the opposite by promoting businesses that we should frequent.  If we focus on those that we want to do business with then we don't have to worry about those that we don't want to do business with.  Part of the philosophy behind this site is that money alone should not drive the decisions that we make regarding who we do business with.  If it does, then money is our god.

CRITERIA FOR BEING ON THE SITE
The full name of this site is Christ-Centered, Home-Oriented Merchandisers, Etc.  Therefore our intention is to only include those businesses that are owned and operated by those who love the Lord Jesus Christ, trust in Him as their Savior, and desire to glorify Him with their lives.  This is what we mean by "Christ Centered".  In doing so we are being consistent with this verse.  As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:10  While many of the businesses that we promote will be home businesses, it is not a requirement.  "Home Oriented" simply means that the folks behind the businesses have a heart toward home.  "Merchandisers, etc". means that we will promote businesses that sell products and provide services as well as ministries, magazines, even blogs and more. Our goal is to help God's people be successful in whatever the Lord calls them to.  A final  expectation of those blogged about on this site is that they must be recommended by someone else.   Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips. Proverbs 27:2   We encourage those of you who read this to inform us of any small Christian businesses, etc. that you would like to see included in our blogs.   If you like doing business with them, others will too.  No business is too small.  If your niece knits washcloths and sells them so that she can publish her first book, we'd like to hear about it.

HOW IT WORKS
Our plan is to post blogs on a regular basis of different businesses that we want to promote.  Our focus will be to tell you about the people behind the business and link you to their website or other contact information in order for you to learn more about their service.  We also plan to pray for the people that we blog about and encourage others to do the same. Finally, we would like for those who have  interacted with the people that we blog about to make comments on them so that others can be made aware of the quality of their work.  .

Welcome to our blog. We hope you find it useful.

     May the Lord bless you,
             your family,
and the work of your hands,
